I saw the President T.Kevin Flanery from Churchill Downs yesterday on Fox Sports saying how much Churchill supports horse racing, what a bunch of bull crap.
What Churchill has done to Illinois racing and Arlington racing is beyond belief.

With a handle somewhere around $11+ million and giving out $630,000 yesterday what is the guess on how much Churchill made? Break even after everything is paid, anyone venture a guess?

Since they also own TwinSpires, I'd guess they made a solid profit.

Handle was over $14 million.

Accuracy is sure at a premium around here.

Sorry didn't sit down and add it up, that's why 11+, figured close enough for discussion

Kentucky Mafia

I can only use broad strokes and the one I'm using is Alex Waldrop leaving the NHC early because he had horse racing business to attend to.

I liken what he did to Roger Goodell leaving the superbowl at half-time to attend to NFL business.

Maybe a sick kid in the hospital, etc.. who knows?. But other than something like that? What other horse racing business could be more important than being there at the Trophy Presentation for the players that pay the bills.

There was huge pent up demand to bet Santa Anita out here. NYRA is going to see something similar when they reopen in June.

he asked about Churchill Downs. Twinspires is just a bet taker, a bet taker these days does better than the host track.

Had to switch between TVG and TVG2 to get all the races.

Not so bad.

That's with 10s of millions of people out of work and some off track betting and simulcast centers closed. One gets the feeling that if the industry was ever organized properly the remaining tracks would make a fortune, the horse shortage would go away, they could raise the purses, lower the take, invest in plant, advertise etc.. Not that I haven't been saying that at least once a week for the last decade.
