He won today but don't think he can make the 1 1/4 in May.

No doubt........!!!
No doubt the horse's courage and heart..........but I question the jockey's ride!!!
Rosie could have just laid off the leader and waited until the head of the stretch before moving with her horse.
All the "Experts" afterwards were questioning whether the horse will go further in the triple crown races.

Shanghai Bobby
He's a talented, game, horse - no doubt about it.
Why do I get the feeling, though, that his best races have come as a 2yo?
Just hope he stays sound.....he's already a big stallion prospect as 2yo champ.

And when Coolmore is involved they can't get to the breeding shed fast enough, especially after that big Grade 1 win.

SHANGHAI BOBBY Moved way too early. Clearly the best. It looked like he had his ears pricked when initially asked and he didn't want to give 100%. At first watching I agreed with the announcer that he was "exhausted". The right hand woke him up and he was able to prevail.
Was the best in that field, but I wasn't blown away by that field.
The and actually ended up getting pretty good trips regardless of some traffic.
ran a nice race, may not be Grade 1 but may have run 2nd best.

had a nightmare trip with pretty much everything going wrong and may not have ever changed leads in the stretch. Trip and footwork alone moves 9 up.

Nobody finds it strange that a horse quarterhorses to the lead, duels with other speed, tires on the turn (race caller calls him exhausted), closers are coming at him (#3 had all kinds of run when he got out), gets passed and then rebreaks and closes back on the closers?
Either a superhorse or a supertrainer. Not sure which I believe these days.

I think that inside lane had an advantage. We saw it 3-4 times in two days. The horse on the rail was able to keep running. The horses trying to pass all seemed to be 3 wide or better and floundered in the last 1/16th. Horses that showed turn of foot with an 8 th to go suddenly stopped gaining in the last fifty yards or so.

Rosie said the last two races he has eased up after making a clear lead. Have only seen one replay but it looked like he slowed noticeably at the top of the stretch. Somehow she got him going again.

Why is it every time I say this horse's name I say it with the French accent Sacha Baren Cohen used in the movie Talladega Nights?
Shanghai Booby.
