Good for you! Sounds great.......got Texas on my radar......

A tip about cooking crappie. For best flavor and taste, bake instead of frying. Preheat oven to 500 degrees. I use an aluminum pie pan. Spray with a non-stick spray. Add a few filets if you're feeding yourself only. I season with red pepper, Tonys, and garlic salt. Cover filets with a generous amount of margarine or butter. Bake for 12-15 minutes at 500 degrees. Remove from oven and let it cool and soak in it's juices for 5 minutes. Be a pig and eat it right out of pan.
Works well for White Bass and other milder panfish as well. Never fry crappie, you'll lose so much of it's natural flavor which separates crappie's greatness from all other fish.
Now I'm going to thaw out some crappie, I've made myself hungry.

These fishing comments remind me of how much fun I used to have fishing. Catching bluegill and crappie on a UL outfit, 2 lb test line and 1/32 oz jigs was enjoyable sport. Have long vowed that I need to spend less time at the track and more time outdoors as I used to, but somehow never seem to make it. Perhaps this year----?

Cinco de Mayo today.

To celebrate, last night I tunneled under my neighbor's fence and camped out in his back yard.

Here in SoCal we take certain extra precautions on this day. We limit driving as much as possible, even more so after dark. Sharply increased risk of being driven into by a drunk without a drivers license or insurance in an unregistered vehicle. Said driver will then abandon the vehicle and take off running, never to be indentified. Such things happen all year round, but more of it today. After dark we try to stay indoors if possible in order to not get hit by the spent bullets returning to earth after being fired randomly into the air by a certain segment that has this tradition back in their original homes.

Watering my lawn. They say we're in for a hot dry Summer in East Texas. I think it's already started. Been 90 for past 5 days and we're still 6 weeks away from first day of Summer.

Mowing lawn. We have a 30% chance of rain next 2 days. Means 5% in reality here. So I'll soon be watering again.
