Ten Dollar Hero

The local Italian Pizza/Deli just raised their prices. $10 footlong heros and $15 pizzas.

The price was already too high and now it's over the top. Ironically, they have a tip jar by the register.

Is there a limit to what you'll pay?

I stopped ordering pizzas out years ago. There are really good frozen ones out there at a fraction of the price. And being the cheapskate I am, I buy in and stock my freezers up when there are sales.

You ever see the salt content in those things?

Have to think a fresh pizza has less salt, but I guess I could be wrong.

15 dollar pizza? and you are bitching? you gotta travel more. That's a great price. Of course the current pizza wars are killing the little guys. But 21 bucks for an extra large is nothing where I live. You can still get one for 16-17 bucks if you pick up and it is a weeknight. Now this pizza has a few toppings, but it's nothing special for sure.

compare that price with the first special listed on the menu link below:

**note the word "Twin" yep, that means two.

I like to eat pizza but almost exclusively eat homemade. 2 pizzas will cost me about $4.00 to make.

I pick-up a large pie every couple of weeks. Depending on toppings it will run $18-$21.

And what's your labor, rent, utilites worth?

In tough times no business wants to raise prices. Probably had no choice. Commodities prices, packaging, etc...all are going through the roof. Most businesses are cut to the bone. Raising prices are a last resort. I used to agonize about raising prices.

Don't you have to cook Papa Murphy's yourself?
It's the dough and sauce and toppings but it isn't cooked.
Tried it and didn't like it.
