NOVEL IDEAS AND SCIENTIFIC APPROACHES TO HANDICAPPING

We haven't had a tread discussing new scientific approaches to handicapping in a while. Their are so many talented computer scientists, mathematicians, business analyst and professional handicappers on this board. Getting the technical view points of such bright minds is very enjoyable reading. PA should have someone go through the vast number of treads created over the years and publish a book on NOVEL IDEAS AND SCIENTIFIC APPROACHES TO HANDICAPPING. I think it would really sell and perhaps entice interest in a new generation of analytical minds. The game needs fresh blood. I would like to know whether anyone has toyed with capturing Horses Body Movements from video feeds prior to post time and incorporating them into win probabilities. Is it possible to do this? As AI evolves, what approaches are coming to the forefront and showing the most promise of solving the handicapping puzzle.

Years ago, a guy named Takich put out a video called Beat The Beam that looked at horses body language before a race. He mostly used it to throw out horses.

I love this stuff.

I was reading an article about the superficial body temperature of (recreational) horses varying depending on the weight of the rider. Which got me thinking about using thermal imaging to look at horses in the paddock and if there may be some correlation between surface body temp and a horses "fitness". Fitness meaning looking for things like cold spots or hot spots in the legs, joints, etc.
