I fished Toledo Bend for years thinking it was the best in Texas. Is Caddo better?

Honestly, I don't think Caddo is better, especially now since giant salvinia is such a problem. It's good, though, and you can't beat the scenery. It's very easy to get turned around on Caddo if you wander off the beaten paths too much. Once you get back in the swamp it all looks the same.

There is a great place to fish on the Sabine River in late fall and winter. It's about a mile east of the Hwy. 59 bridge south of Marshall. Known as the Black Shoals, it's a seam of lignite running across the river that forms a waterfall when the river level is 9.5 feet or lower. It serves as a giant trap for fish coming upstream from Toledo Bend in preparation for the spawn. You can absolutely slaughter white bass there.

Since you need to approach the shoals from the downstream side, most people launch at the FM 1794 boat ramp and go upriver about 3 miles to the shoals. It can be a treacherous boat ride in low water, though. There are boulders just under the surface as big as Volkswagens!

There's a woman who runs a guide service on the Sabine, and she runs an airboat to the shoals. You can hear her coming from two miles away!

Found these two threads about the shoals:

Sabine Shoals

Sabine River Heavyweights

(That second thread shows the, uh, "variety" of fish available there, lol.)

BUMP

Herman is out.

In retrospect, I’m glad LSU didn’t hire him. He was the Tigers first choice, but I believe he used LSU to get a better offer from Texas.
Well played Tom, well played

If they can't win with Herman, they can't win.

They hired Sarkisian. I really thought Herman deserved another year but maybe Steve will do better.

Disagree. Too many kids that he signed left campus.
Some before the first game. He was toxic
