Total deaths is a meaningless statistic.

Deaths per capita is meaningful. (If you have 2 coworkers and 1 of them dies, that's worse than than have 20 coworkers and losing 2 of them.)

Among OECD countries (developed countries with a market economy), the United States is pretty bad, but not the worst, in per capita deaths. Seventh out of 37 countries. Belgium, UK, Spain, Italy, Sweden, and Chile have higher per capita death rates.

Trump is trying to make an argument that the United States has a low death rate per case, instead of per capita. If it's true (I don't have that data), given the above information on per capita death rates, logic would tell me that the United States has a comparatively very high number of cases. The survival rate is higher, though.

This make sense to me. We have a good health care system, but we've also got all these propagandized morons running around, maskless, acting like the whole thing is some kind of hoax, and therefore more infections.

Have you ever stopped to think that the propagandized ones are people like you?? Wow, novel idea there, right? Masks are just one thing you can do to prevent covid spread, but it isn't the main one! By a large margin. Washing hands produces better results. Not touching your face produces better results. If you feel ill, don't be around others. That produces better results. The only good reason to wear a mask is IF YOU ARE SICK AND NEED TO BE AMONG THOSE THAT ARE NOT SICK.
