Just watched the replay of that PID 3rd race. The leader was tiring and lugging in (what horses normally do in deep stretch). The jock on the did the prudent thing and stayed out of trouble, probably because he had a strong desire to see his wife and children again after the races and to insure a placing.

You lost a bet? Don't blame the jock.

Can someone tell me what the jock was thinking?
Where was the big opening along the rail in deep stretch that you speak of? You must have missed the 1/5 switch back to his left lead mid stretch and ducking in 3-4 paths

I do agree that he should have gone inside but in any case he was not beating the 1/5.

The was the leader in the stretch, and while he was certainly tiring, he was not lugging in. He maintains a straight path through the stretch.

The big opening along the rail was.. along the rail? There were practically two paths available.

The ducked in well after the had already altered to the outside.

I do agree he should have went inside at this point. Should he have gone just inside the or all the way down to the rail which is about 3 paths?

Unless he drops all the way to the rail, he has to choose whether to go inside or outside of the at the 1/16th pole.
