Here's one: "Eight Barking Dogs (2014)" Now why in the world would anyone name a horse "Eight Barking Dogs"...? So you see my point...it sometimes is totally irrational, I mean we don't name our dogs "Ten Hurdling Horses" so it is just sort of weird when you really think about it...
...And I know it all has to do with the Registry, and coming up with a unique name and all that stuff, but still...its just the way it is, because there really is no alternative

What would you come up with if you had to name 50 animals EVERY year?

Think that was Cesar Kimmel.not Drazin.
His most infamous name was Cunning Stunt.

There are also a slew of Grateful Dead inspired names, including an owner who has posted here-Scarlet Begonias, China Rider, Althea?

One of my favorites was a horse that ran at Monmouth named Richiefromshoprite, another chicken wing haha.
If/when I own a horse (come on mega millions!) rest assured it will have a human name. I had cats named Pete, Repete, and Threepete. I currently have two dogs, Charlie and Doug. 😊

A subject near and dear to my heart.
I won a WinStar naming contest a few years back with this name for a 2011 filly:
BLUEGRASS CAT X THEREGOESMSAMERICA - I named her REDWHITENBLUEGRASS and won a key chain. The filly wound up racing in Korea.
When I was in the breeding business (short-lived), I named our horses somewhat less imaginatively.
ISLAND WHIRL X PARTY CUT UP = ISLAND PARTY
WILD ESCAPADE X I BIEN READY = BIEN WILD
MR. LIVINGSTON X I BIEN READY = PRESUMED READY
The late Norman Casse had fun naming his horses. He had one that he called ISITINGOOD. Not sure of the parentage, and always wondered how he got that past the registry. LOL.

Yes it is Kimmel with the thought-provoking names for his horses.
He was part of the Warner Communications conglomerate of the 1970s with the late, great Steve Ross. The last I heard was that Kimmel was still running a casino in Russia, hard to believe.
My favorite was a mare named Honor And Offer.

Sometimes I think people make the name of the horses difficult so the announcers have a hard time announcing during the race.

I lived for awhile off the winnings from Notorious Pleasure. I still live by that mantra.

Both bad, particularly the latter. I guess I'm a prude about liking respectful names on the horses.
