He spends big money, but it only affects New York racing. To Kentucky and California he’s one horse in a full field of graded horses. Outside New York he’s a minnow.

You post dumb things, so congrats on keeping your record intact. Whether you agree with him or not, he's a major owner in this game anywhere. CA and KY would love to welcome him in a more substantial manner.

Mike is a lot of things....minnow isn't one of them!

I wish him the best of luck, but success in one area does not always translate to success in others. However, it’s not unusual for the successful person to think it does.

That is an excellent question. With New York State and specifically the five boroughs in decline, as a former leader in tourism nationally, which it still may be going forward by default, it is good for someone to step up and fund something, with someone who has credibility to do it. The mission and goals of the entity are probably not going to have any kind of impact on the Texas, Oklahoma or Arkansas tracks let alone California because New York has a certain level of "above it all" borderline arrogance that is not particularly attractive. The argument that we need to be united does not resonate outside of the cradle of racing, Kentucky, and in Florida a bit, along with the Mid-Atlantic where true horsemen originated, and the left in the dust California people who seem to be bringing up the rear exception for an occasional glimmer of hope. I certainly hope he succeeds in whatever he is trying to accomplish which will come out. I just doubt he really cares much more about the non-New York players.

Those who offer Belmont at the Big A should realize they are not "above it all"

I like Repole, appreciate anyone who puts money into the game. Was listening to his interview on HRRN the morning of the Jim Dandy with "the Baron of the Backstretch." Great interview, Repole left no holds barred commenting on the present state of the game. He was so worked up that later, when there was an inquiry on Forte, I thought his head might explode if he was taken down.
