How is he going to stick it to China? The same kind of tariffs in the past have stuck it to American consumers and to American businesses. There is no difference in these tariffs, so why would there be any difference in the results?
Those in favor of these tariffs have presented no evidence or argument that China will be hurt, and no evidence or argument that Americans will not be hurt.

Exactly who is going to be hurt, those quantification will be made clear over the next decade, your going apeshit over nothing. When you get hurt please tell us, maybe we will care.

How will the same old tariffs be any different this time?
Insanity is repeating the same action while expecting a different result.

Trump is just getting warmed up. The next target is the E.U.
BTW, the E.U. will be hurt by Trump's new tariffs, and they are already talking about retaliatory tariffs on American products.

If the E.U. wants to further increase their already massive tariffs and barriers on U.S. companies doing business there, we will simply apply a Tax on their Cars which freely pour into the U.S. They make it impossible for our cars (and more) to sell there. Big trade imbalance!

Clocker,
I just do not think your question is going to get that much national attention or support for your side of this issue. I think it is more of a consumption tariff that will be imposed and hurt countries outside these United States, granted it might harm Walmart big time in billions in profits to the heir's of Sam Walton but few will care about those folks.

Increasing consumer prices and lost American jobs won't get national attention?
You don't think the lefty media will fall all over themselves pinning that on Trump?

The next two election cycles will be about the growing economy I think, the Europeans have NO play and no matter what they say now. If they want access into our economy they are going to have to pay, if they go hardball they will lose big time and they know this.

What people refuse to understand is that Trump knows what he speaks and does, while his political detractors are all part of the corrupt globalist system -- which is to get over on the USA economically, thanks mostly to the corrupt GOP elites of the past.
So who are those Trump detractors on today's media web pages and TV screens? John Kasich, Lindsay Graham, the EU, Jimmy Kimmel...

Unphased, the U.S. President fired back on Twitter: “If the EU wants to further increase their already massive tariffs and barriers on U.S. companies doing business there, we will simply apply a Tax on their Cars which freely pour into the U.S.,” he wrote.
“They make it impossible for our cars (and more) to sell there. Big trade imbalance!”
While the mainstream media in Britain and Europe has gone out of its way to paint President Trump’s proposed aluminium and steel tariffs as unreasonable, it is true that the EU imposes tariffs of 10 per cent on American cars, while the U.S. imposes tariffs of just 2.5 per cent on EU-made cars — making American cars more expensive for British consumers and hurting American exporters.

What the hate Trump crowd refuses to accept is that Trump and his America First agenda is dealing from strength while the EU and the others are not. Trump has history and the importance of the moment on his side. And a huge majority of American citizens as well.
Any retaliatory tariffs by the EU aimed at the USA will actually result in a very big YAWN when all is said and done.
Point of reference: the part I quoted above may have come from the same article that clocker quoted a few posts back. I just bolded the really good stuff.

Except most of those cars are already manufactured here...
Just like our domestics made outside of the US that compete there.
This isn't a "hate Trump" thing as much as its bad economic policy. Nobody agrees his view on trade. Why is he suddenly warming up to TPP? Because he was wrong.

Exactly. A big reason Ford and others are building cars in Mexico is that a lot of countries have much lower tariffs on a car imported from Mexico than the same car imported from the US.
