betfair

I have noticed that the exchange on a race does not close even though the race has started, allowing for a bet.
is that possible?

Betfair has 2 separate markets on the race (3 markets even if you count Betfair SP)

The main betting market is the pre race market which closes when the race starts. Then Betfair open a second market for live in the run betting which goes from the start of the race to the end of the race

Often there is a 3rd market for Betfair SP (Starting Price) which is a separate pool to the main pre race market. It also closes when the race starts

thanks for the help.
If I can attain success (why should I) with the lay bets I will get deeper into the betfair bet offerings.

In the U.K. races there are actually 4 (sometimes), the other market being who won the photo.

In the us races. In run betting Betting ceases when the first horse crosses the finish line.

In race betting is great, cause if you made a mistake in laying a horse, you can rescue some of your money by playing it during the race.

I have looked into this but I have a question.
if the lay bet horse has the lead at any point in the race, is that considered a losing lay bet?

No it is not a losing lay bet if the horse has the lead during the race

Results with in the run betting are determined normally = winner is first horse to hit the finish line

they have strange rules for dead heats

if you match during in-running, make sure you have a good feed because even a 3 second delay could have bad results

No only at the finish. If the horse wins, you lose your lay bet.

I am talking about playing the horse you mistakenly laid at let’s say hypothetically at 5-1

Half way though the race. You say oops and you start backing the horse at 3-1 to mitigate your losses.

You”ll still lose money but not quite as much.

I done it several times and instead of losing 100, it’s only 50.

There's enough liquidity in the exchange to do this at many tracks?

There's enough liquidity if you're psychic. In other words, if the horse you didn't bet jumps out to a 5-length easy lead, no way are you going to get any price to "make up for your losses" because everyone else will jump on it. If you know that the horse you didn't bet is in a perfect spot and you think it's going to make a late move and cost you the race, then maybe that might work, but you also might end up betting and the horses loses anyway.

Biggestal always sells the fantasyland of the exchange (pretty sure he works for them), but you have to remember that there are a thousand people who are just as smart or smarter with bigger bankrolls trying to do the same thing as you are, especially with betting during the race. It has some advantages to pari-mutuel wagering but you don't just show up and start raking in money. Like all other gambling, a lot of times when something looks too good to be true, it is.

Lol. You obviously don’t bet the uk races on betfair.

Plenty of liquidity to make up for a bad lay bet.

And I put plenty of work into making money at betfair exchange.

I said this many times, you have to be sharp and on your toes.

There are races today at ascot. I will make money on them.

Over 1,000,000 in matched bets the first race at Ascot.

No problem making bets during the race.

Made money.

Just becuase you castaway, have not mastered the exchange as I have,

No reason to bad mouth me.

I have my mind firmly based on reality
