He ought to be gone already. What has happened there is an embarrassment.

Doubt Abbott had control over billing of customers. Customers shouldn't pay these bills until the issue is resolved.
Sounds like a lot of bullshit runamuck.

It will play out. Customers in the end will have to pay a lot, but nowhere near 17k a month.
I've never heard of Griddy. How stupid can that guy be? Seriously. It's like flying on Somalia Discount Airlines. You know trouble is ahead

the electricity deal is real bad, but as great a place as Texas is to live, they do have their problems.
another big one that Texas will have to deal with are going to be floods. there are a lot of high populated area's there that the homes were built on flood plains and those area's are favored to get hit with an extra foot of water within the next 3 years. flood insurance gets a subsidy from the federal government, but not nearly enough to cover the value of some of those homes. the flood insurance premiums must be real high there.

He may not have anything todo with the utility bills but in general the whole mess is on him. He is the guy in charge of his state and his people, that it turned into this because it got a little cold is another example of how inept the government is at shit.

I agree. But I think he’s going to take hell for it anyway.

Lawyers are jumping all over this. I suppose it would be through class-action lawsuits. Virtually everyone that lost power (millions) would seemingly qualify. I see this going nowhere. Wouldn't this open the door to similar lawsuits against other utility companies?
I think as far as compensation goes, it all comes under the heading of "shit happens".

He's not in charge of me. And I'm a Texan.
Go sell your victimization song somewhere else. Texans won't buy it

Apparently there is some history on this stuff.
ERCOT fought legislation in the past that was proposed specifically to allow them to be sued.
The electric operators also were supported by ERCOT when they fought more legislation to require them to winterize down to zero degrees.
That reminds me of New Orleans when after Katrina they printed all the plans to strengthen the dikes etc going back to 1963
