I was more 70s and 80s. Rowdy Roddy Piper was my guy. His Piper's Pit kind of changed the sport in my opinion. Used to like the guys that put on a good show but mostly lost like Rocky Johnson (The Rock's Dad), SD "Special Delivery" Jones, and Leaping Lanny Paffo.

Kamala the Ugandan giant and King Kong Bundy were fun to watch.
They called Bundy's leap from the top corner rope the "747".

I remember as a kid , putting foil on my 10 inch tv to pick up gordon solie and crew on channel 47 or something like that. Got to see Bruno and Ivan Koloff in a steel cage at the garden, Andre the giant and the Iron shiek at my high school and met Ricky the Dragon steamboat and Big John Studd at the Meadowlands after they competed in the Plimpton celebrity harness race. I will never forget Big John Studd riding in the sulky, feet dragging the ground all the way around. Reminds me of the movie with Rodney Dangerfield when he was at the track. Been by but never in Tito Santana's hair salon in Jersey, girl I used to work with said her mother dated Bam Bam Bigelow and he was the sweetest. Also found out how many people are related in the sport. Leaping Lenny was Macho Man's brother, Domonic Denucchi was Bruno' cousin or something like that, George the Animal was Elizabeth's father and I think an english professor, and the list goes on and on. Was actually fun to watch years ago when they actually "wrestled" for most of the show, not like today where they have a 3 hour show and 2 hours are people talking crap. Oh where have you gone Chief Jay Strongbow, actually an Italian gentleman but one of my favorites.

"Mid-South Wrestling" Lots of guys came thru there. Ernie Ladd, Ted Dibiase, Kerry Von Erich, Freebirds,etc.. One of my local favorites, "Junkyard Dog", was a regular at Louisiana Downs. and had a neighbor, "Sputnik Monroe", when I was growing up in the 70's.

My high school friends and I saw Randy Savage wrestle in a high school gymnasium in Nancy, KY back around '79 or '80. Place couldn't have held more than a couple of hundred people, think we paid $5 to get in.
RIP Macho Man

Captain Lou Albano was more entertaining than any of the wrestlers IMO.

I attended live rasslin' events in Georgia, DC and Pittsburgh as an adult. I knew it was 'fake', but it was entertaining.
Pittsburgh packed 20K+ fans in during the hey day. My buddy and I had our hangover brunch in Pittsburgh. Big guy in front of me gave the cashier an autograph. I asked, "Who was that guy?" She said, "Jake the Snake." We walked outside to our car and saw Jake light up a cigarette in his fancy black vehicle with the good looking blonde.
In DC another buddy and I went to watch Andre the Giant, plus others. He was near the end of the line and his match lasted 20 seconds. Of course, he won. He died within six months of that event. Mayor for Life, Marion Barry attended; before his downfall. It was a Sunday after church.

My favorite was Pepper Gomez...that short Mexican guy with the iron stomach. "How does he do that?", my father would ask me when Gomez would bounce a Volkswagen up and down on his stomach.
