Santa Anita is a joke!!!!
Why is the state that is destroying horse racing running on a off day like today?
They don't run on Mondays but they still want to get your dollars!!!
What do they have to do with MLK anyway....

Why does Saratoga run on Labor Day, thereby employing workers on their holiday?
And in light of the backstretch workers not having achieved the union status that many of them seek?

Take the day off
No one is holding a gun to your head to bet the races.
I used to get annoyed when the NYRA wouldn't race on Palm Sunday.
Does that still apply? What percentage of their subscribers go to church?
Antiquated rule should be changed, if it hasn't already.
Personally, I am free to play races on Saturdays thru Mondays.
I miss when Saratoga ran cards each Monday, but respect that
it's both difficult to fill those cards with entries these days, and
that staff who work at the track Wed-Sun enjoy 2 days off.
Today I'll be playing Fairgrounds and Santa Anita.
I hope their pools are substantial. We'll see.

Might be the weirdest thread of 2024 on the racing topics...
Why would a track run on a holiday?
Oh, I don't know...because a lot of people GET THE DAY OFF and might want to BET ON SOME RACES?
Frankly, I'm surprised not more tracks are running today.
Like GP, LRL & AQU?
They used to run on MLK day if I'm not mistaken back in the day.
GP in particular hardly ever runs on a Monday holiday any longer, no matter the holiday...

If you mean me, I was addressing the nonsensical post by "Saratoga" with a Saratogian analogy.

My opening line was directed at the OP.
It's rare when PA and I agree - this is a ridiculous thread.
Lots of people have the day off today. Both California tracks run.
GGF won't be running next year - that's a shame, but inevitable.

Laurel did run on MLk day years ago.
Back then there were actually people in the grandstand.

They still get their % of handle whether there are people betting in the grandstand or people betting online, right?

I'll look anywhere for an edge, most any day of the week. Was hoping yesterday that Parx would run. In the opener, #5 Lady Sheboygan chased a 1-5 shot for the early lead inside in her debut, and all down the backside before stopping at a route. Now at 6f could rally off the pace outside, but 12-1 is intimidating me to back off.
Good luck today.

Santa Anita looks like a goldmine today.
Philly cancelled /snow , so more time to do due diligence.
Mahoning has some potentially mispriced horses as well.
Just one opinion at Golden Gate.
Nothing significant at Fairgrounds from the watch lists, but I'll take a glance.

You guys didn't get my point....
A state that is destroying racing gets to still take your money on a track that doesn't race on a Monday...
Saratoga has always had their last day on Labor Day....
Other tracks did race on Mondays as their regular calendar but decided to stop
and they respected the decision and not race on Monday holidays...
Tough crowd on a greedy move ....

They do, but it’s a very different %

Hahaha!! The OP is going to go nuts when he realizes California still races on Columbus Day (or whatever they may call it now) in October.
