Max Player

Max Player moved to the Asmussen barn & being prepared for the Derby.

Seems like a classless move.

Does anyone know if this is a permanent move or one just related to all the protocols in place for people moving around from track to track?

Steven Asmussen is obviously a great trainer, but Linda Rice was doing a very good job with this horse. He was moving forward every start.

As i said in the other topic on this in the TC area, it's deja vu of Helen Pitts having conditioned Curlin for most of his entire upbringing, then having him moved to Asmussen barn as a ready-made horse.......

Don't get me started cuz I'm still mad about that.

The amount of work she put into him.......

Curlin was moved after he was purchased. That is not the case here at all.

I don’t know but I’m guessing she’s against going to the derby with this horse. He just seems to suck up for a piece and I don’t think he can beat the top flight of horses. Who knows.

I don’t bet the baby races here but it’s clear who gets the best stock . Just watching them. The really big trainers. Once you get past Asmussen, Pletcher, and Brown, the winners are spread thin. Yeah, Mott, Clement and Ward get a couple too. But are they really better trainers or do they get the best blood? Same thing can be said about Baffert out west. You gotta have the right horses to win big. IMO it’s way more about the horse than the trainer. If this weren’t true I would say Tagg is the best damn trainer around winning with these low price NY Breds..... c’mon these guys get million dollar stock.... or close to it .

You can’t possibly compare this horse to Curlin. He’s gotta jump up at least 10 lengths. These people are not realistic... derby fever. I’d bet

Linda was not against going to the Derby and was absolutely planning to run him there.

The horse was moved to Asmussen by the owners. That is actually the story. There isn't always something sinister lurking beneath the surface.

This is good to know, mainly because it (slightly) changes my view of the horse with regards to the Derby.

He's a cool horse.

Linda Rice did a great job with home. I hope he keeps improving.
