This thread reminds me of the "All In The Family" episode when Archie needs his refrigerator fixed, he calls the repair man, and the repair man comes, with his black assistant. After the fridge is fixed, Archie tells a story of a black assistant that is frighteningly threatening throughout the repair call while he himself is humble and respectful, and Meathead and Gloria, describing the exact same repair call, describe a quiet, shy respectful young apprentice and a boisterous, disrespectful Archie.
It is what you want it to be, I guess.
