top speed--didn't win
.
A gentleman has a bunch of racing books for sale--on this site. I took a look at what he had, and noticed a DRF book called "SPEED TO SPARE".
I think I bought my copy used, at a thrift shop-it has a $1.98 price tag on it.
It has to do with Bris/Beyer speed rating patterns, such as 3-in-a-row, good-bad-good, etc. Pretty interesting.
I'm not sure if I got this pattern from that book--or I may possibly have come up with it on my own. You're all familiar with the "Bounce" pattern...usually applies to a horse that wins while posting his highest speed rating. His next race he's not usually a good bet. It's not foolproof, but I've found much merit to that premise.
Well...what about a horse that posts his highest SR--but doesn't win? I applied basic handicapping rules (back in 35 days--same or lower class--decent connections, min ML) and found it to be a useful spot-play. As are most of my plays--works best at the lower claimers
This is from Jan 1st @ GGF:
Obviously they don't all win--but it's fun to fool around with.
Good Luck

And don't overlook that for each horse, their late speed was getting better or peaking in the last couple of races. That helps too.

Although I'd like to see better connections--I'll take a shot at 12-1 PINKOUT in the 10th @ Parx. She does fit this pattern, and with the weak connections, that 12-1 ML may hold up. At Parx it's just a guess

horses who have e-foot and stop , are often called out on these programs.
they often stop
and once in a while they dont
and someone trots out the program as if this is a daily occurrence

I'm not sure what your point is, Alton...and which programs are you referring to?

GGX BEST-FIVE 1/16
Raining cats n' dogs here at GGF right now...but they do have an all-weather track. Here are the Best-Five top-3 contenders per race--looks chalky as usual at this track. I can spit to this track from my house, but haven't actually been here in a few years.
Soon enough, this track won't exist--the land it sits on is far too valuable, right on the water, with views of Golden Gate bridge, Alcatraz, San Francisco skyline, etc.
Good Luck

Before I placed my bets --took a look at CARTOONIST $9.20...he was at 2-1 with a few minutes to post. So decided to pass on that one
I did get MIDNITE FLOWER $18.40 in the 7th, since he was top Platinum Power and 10-1. Another ran 2nd--with the other two off the board.

This is true--actually early or late...improvement is something to make note of.
Here was a horse MRS PEINTOUR
that ran yesterday 6th race @ Santa Anita. Her trainer Brian Koriner is money 3rd off layoff--and the horse, judging by workouts and improving race calls looks razor sharp.
She won and paid appx $28.00.
I actually tried to come up with a software program to find these improving horses--it failed miserably. Some "angles" you just can't put strict rules on, as I found out.
Here are MRS PEINTOUR'S last 3 race and works. This is one of those longshots you kick yourself AFTER the race, for not seeing it.

TUP P-3
This is the Top Power horses per race @ Turf Paradise today:
.
I liked the early double and the 5th race pick-3. Missed the double, but nailed the pick-3.
.
*I post these often because I get asked if I bet my own programs...and no, I don't win everyday. They just make handicapping a lot quicker and easier.
