Great post Andy.
I spent a couple hours with Bob Feller once. He was at an autograph event. Lots of younger players were there and Feller had time to talk to the cops working the event.
He was one pissed off old dude. He hated everything about baseball in the 90’s. Especially that you couldn’t throw at the batter anymore.
Towards the end of the event many of the younger guys ended up sitting with Feller. He was a grumpy guy, but told some great stories

Thanks to to all the brave souls who served and prayers to all those who did not come back home. We had a gathering at a local college this morning for area vets who fought at the Battle of the Bulge. Great attendance. Not a dry eye in the house when one gave his speech about how they went through frozen bodies in the snow looking for anyone still alive, refusing to leave anyone behind. a group of white-haired old men came in walkers and wheel chairs,
but they walked out giants.
