Tdn 4th - 7/26 - Somebody Explain This One

Thistledowns - 5th Race - Friday, July 26th

4 - JJ's Profit ............. $8.40........$16.60..........$16.20
7 - Canadian Home Run.................$44.00..........$29.40
2 - Hold My Calls ...........................................$17.00

Before you take a casual glance, and say "It's a bridgejumper, Dummy!", their were no overwhelming favorites in the race, and the #2 horse, Hold My Calls, was the 6-5 favorite.

Eight horse field - The winner was 3-1, the #7 was 11-1, the #2 was 6-5
The other also-rans in order were 9-1, 8-1, 5-1, 15-1, and 15-1

actually 5th race
the 1 was pounded rather hard in place and show position and did not hit
more than 75% of place and show pool
why? who knows - pay-off manipulation at some book?
info that horse could not lose?

Race 5 Win/Place/Show Odds

Pool Total: $8,894

Looks like pool manipulation - bet big into small place and show pools here on a horse that could not come in the money (horse has lost by double digit lengths 10+ times in a row) and crush the likely horses off-shore where the money is not bet into the pool. Always wonder if these guys are able to get their money out.

BTW, why is the 1 still running - 10 yr old mare. Has not won since October '09 - unreal.

I have no clue what went on but remember with the signal not going out to other tracks and only being available on Twin Spires and Xpressbet the pools are small.
