Probably already been addressed? , but what about the chicklets that jump around like popcorn before eventually settling into order at times during races? What about when they show a horse to be in front of a horse that they are clearly trailing by about a half length-1Length? What about when the chicklets graphic seems to be slightly out of sync with the video in terms of horses making moves?

Maybe the 'graphic representation' part is completely separate from the data part, but it's hard to trust 100%.

I reference Trakus, but without having a access to their database and/or a guy writing code to grab what the patterns that I like, I mostly use it as a reference to verify my own perception of a given race.

The Belmont Stakes, at the marathon distance of 1.5 miles, is likely to test the stamina of some of the contenders.
In the Kentucky Derby, Tapwrit's efficient use of energy allowed him to reach his peak in feet/seconds at 4.5 furlongs, in contrast to Irish War Cry , Gormley, and most others who reached their peak a half-furlong earlier, at 4 furlongs.
Tapwrit is a contender who seems likely to be able to pass tiring horses. I'm not sure that a repeat of this type of performance puts him in contention for the Win money, or simply in the top three or four finishers.

I don't think that works any longer. I thought they were just blacklisting me, but when you click on the link it gives a "missing page" error.

Trakus doesn't work as advertised, simple as that. The timing is "ballpark" when it works, and often times it is just bad. The ground covered is better. I'm sure there are some issues and it isn't precise, but it is not bad considering the alternative, watching every race yourself.

I can log in and get to the tracks, but I can't set up a new account. Leave it to Trakus.....

Jerry, you can get Trakus on the track websites.
I like that at NYRA, they give you the last 2 furlongs for all turf races, not matter the distance. Not sure if it is all correct, but it is there.

Hello Jay,

Thanks for your email and for your interest in Trakus, greatly appreciated.

As a provider of tracking and timing information to Equibase and various other industry partners, Trakus does not currently offer commercial handicapping products to consumers. However, for app developers, Trakus provides XML data access through a secure software interface.

If you are interested to learn more about our commercial app developer programs, we will have a Trakus representative contact you to discuss further. Please let us know.

Best regards,

Trakus Customer Service

Guess I have to make a app...

Yea. Last I checked my trakus login works, but I was too lazy to hook up the old PC and wanted a new sign-up via the laptop, and it didn't work.

Like Tom said; the major tracks offer Trakus for their races w/ most of the info.

If you have trouble navigating you can always google stuff like NYRA TRAKUS ...

Yeah, I don't get what they mean exactly. Wonder if they basically mean, "if you're a CRW team, we'll work with you."? Either way, would be nice to get the data via an api of some sort rather than scraping their website

So basically Trakus has no real world value - except to keep Craig and other video watchers up late nights and sparking debates about how to approach calibrating it into usefulness. Sounds like a company with a lack of interest in providing a precision product in timing races, the very thing they claim to sell. Weird.

By the way, they provide chicklets.......or whatever they are called. If they provided real data, the Jockey Club and Equibase would cry foul.
