Backup Software-System
I have just bit the bullet and am transitioning over to Win10 from Win7.
I'm looking for suggestions for a reliable and easy backup system as I like to backup my files daily. I have been using for years a system called ClickFree, but in transferring files over to my new 'puter from my old computer, I have discovered to my chagrin that CF is pretty glitchy, which probably accounts for why the company is no longer in business.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I've used AOMEI to backup Windows for years and on occasion have restored with it. It's simple and easy to use.

1. Is your goal to back up the entire drive or just "projects?"
2. Do you need to keep multiple instances of projects/folders?
In other words, are you backing up everything, or just some things?

OlderGeeks.com is a great freeware site. Here is a link to the backup software page. You could see if any of these programs fit your needs without having to spend any dough.

Good questions. I should have specified that earlier. I just backup selective folders. I don't want OS files in my backups.

"backup selective folders"
boxcar, been doing incremental backups for decades using WinZip.
WZ offers an attribute option, along with reset.
Would be time consuming to restore the incremental backups, but most effective.
FWIW, I only do my backups monthly.

Task Scheduler is still available in Win10
If it's only certain files/folders and not a ton of data
you can have task scheduler do it for you daily etc
type "task" on the run line and it will offer you task scheduler.
play with it....... it can do lots of stuff
I used to use it to backup my Jcapper files/databases etc to an external drive every night.......

I do what you do: selective backups.
Here's the product you want.
GS RichCopy 360
Works well but not the prettiest interface.
Support is top notch.

The task command doesn't work in my Win7 or 10! Go figure.
Thanks for your suggestion, though.

Geesh, Dave, I just perused their Admin Guide and it sounds like a user has to have a Ph.D in Geekdom to use their software. Is it difficult to use or does it just sound that way <g>?
Do you know if I would I have to buy two licenses if I network my two computers?

I like "simple" and "easy". Does the software install on the computer being backed up or on the target external drive?

On the computer being backed up. You have your choice of backup types which you can see once it's installed. It's free and like I said, I've used it for years. PM me if you need help.

So...simple, easy and free. And then toss in your generous offer for help if needed -- how can I go wrong? Thank you very much for your generosity.
I think I'll give it a whirl. I just ordered a SS drive from the Amazonian Co., and needed cables from Ebay, so hopefully next week I can get started.
