D K Metcalf

The Seattle Seahawk wide received is going to the US Olympic Track and Field qualifier to see if he can make the team as a 100 meter sprinter.

Dude is an incredibly fast football player, but I'd be shocked if he got a sniff of making the team, different world altogether.

It makes perfect sense, not sure why it is interesting.

The skill set from sprinter to football player is a much easier transition than from football player to Olympic sprinter.

Adding that Bob Hayes would one of the best examples. Along with James Jett, Willie Gault, Rocket Ismael (college track and field), James Trapp, a guy on the LA Rams back in the day who I cannot recall, I do recall he had bad hands.

Also Renaldo Nehemiah, who had a brief career with the 49ers (around 3yrs). I think he gave up football after getting his bell rung one day.

I watched the nfl as a kid and got sooo sick of hearing how fast Bob Hayes was.
He ran in a weirdly awkward manner and got caught from behind at least once a week.

If he was, indeed, an olympic sprinter, it had to be a VERY weak year for speed.

It seems a good athlete had a much better chance competing in the Olympics the further you go back in history.

Much more specialized now and that is why yoi see the huge speed difference when more modern day Olympic sprinters entered the NFL

It’s not working out for him. As someone posted. This is a “specialist “ world now, just to be that good at a certain position or sport. Kind of like Tebow for the Jags....... (Tight end) it’s the Jags and their new coach . I foresee that ending in a chuckle too.
