Vick wins courage award.....say what?

When I saw this I thought it was an early (or late) April Fool. He lied and stonewalled it until he had no choice. Then he was just as contrite as hell. Makes you really want the Eagles to lose now.

Here is an excerpt: "I've overcome a lot, more than probably one single individual can handle or bear."

Somebody check the Eagles' Christmas tree for "Mao Balls."

On second thought...never mind...

Gary--Maybe when Mr Vick retires from football and becomes a Phila cop he will know about the real meaning of "overcoming a lot maybe more than one individual can bear". Then maybe he could be mentioned for a courage award. A real first class man returns to town this week, one Mr Brian Dawkins. Hope that Denver wins the game. I will root for Vick to turn his life around and become a solid citizen. He paid for his crime I get that but I cannot root for him to win football games.

It took a lot of courage or should I say gall to show his face in public.

My quote from a different thread:

"every award everywhere is a promotion." In this case, after reading the article, it is also an excuse for Vick to go ego-tripping.

Thankfully one of the victim’s friends showed up at the award ceremony…

It is easy to jump on Michael Vick. I am no fan of his by any means, but he certainly has overcome a lot. He lost millions and millions of dollars by his stupid actions and also did hard time in a real prison. He paid dearly for his mistakes. What more does the guy have to do, hang himself?

No not hang himself but to learn the meaning of the word humble. As players from other teams who received the same award have done. Phil Sheridan in today's Philly Inquirer said what I am thinking.

If getting out of Prison, and trying to live within Society's Rules, represent an act of courage..then every Ex Con who takes the right path should be so deserving of this type of award. Although I am not familiar with this NFL Courage Award, but if Vick is this year's recipient...then next year's front runner has to be Plaxico Burress.
