8th@Mountaineer, 9:30PMet
8th @Mountaineer 6F Clm5000N4x ~ purse:$6,500 ~ 8/2/16
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3YO+Up which have never won 4 races lifetime.
(WV-Bred races not considered in eligibility)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EARLY LOOK: Both halves of favored entry go route-2-sprint, one
stepping up from N3L. Second-choice ML also steps up, while
third-choice ML figures as outside speed. Three others would shock.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Romazzino (7/5 ML Fave,PoE)- An entrymate won last, 4YO
beat his mate Macuto two back,& beat by even-money fave three back.
1A) Macuto (7/5 ML Fave,PoE)- 5YO rolled w/bias in last, beat
by an entrymate two back, beat by Roma three back. Dam Copana Bay's
offspring 13/56 (+23%) in dirt sprints, but only debut sprint try OK.
2) Thrown Your Way (10/1 ML)- Yet to threaten locally in 8 tries,
but 5YO was only neck behind outside runner Lawyer in last.
3) Blackeye Wynn (12/1 ML)- Go-to jock named for 7YO returning
from 1,196-day layoff. Vet scratch here 7/11, trainer scratch PID 7/26.
4) Cat's Best (12/1 ML)- Cat has had a bad habit of slow breaks,
quick middle moves, zero finish. Fans hope 5YO can repeat Aug.12,15 win.
5) Bosses Notion (5/2 ML)- Boss goes for three-peat after beating
up weak foes over glib surface,& 54 Beyers earned top 53 Ave. N4L Par.
6) Shakin N His Boots (6/1 ML)- 6YO WV-Bred an early scratch.
7) My Lawyer George (5/1 ML)- George has been hanging around
the N4L condition over a year. May have bounced 2 back off strong
effort vs. 1/5 fave June 28th. "The Q" should get greta trip, but is 6YO
fast enough to put away Boss & still hold off closing entry? ML price OK.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE BOTTOM LINE: Nothing out of the box here IMO.
Going three deep, Entry-5-7, should get you through all horizontal bets.
Brave souls looking to spread in other legs of Pick-3/4/5 (Like ME)
hope the graduating bar isn't too High tonight & will single #7,
My Lawyer George, to eke out a win at 7/2 or higher odds.
GOOD LUCK to ALL, & See you at NIGHT SCHOOL!

9th@Mountaineer 9:55PMet
9th @Mountaineer: 5.5F Clm5000N2Y ~ purse:$6,600 ~ 8/2/16
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3YO+Up, non-winners of two races in 12 months
(WV-Bred races not considered in eligibility)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EARLY LOOK: No drop downs in class & no route-2-sprint runners
make for a Ho-Hum closer, value-wise. Tepid ML Fave steps up in class.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2) Starship Captain (3/1 ML)- Will third time locally be the charm
for 7YO closer that ran against bias two back, w/bid-lane last out.
3) C V Els (5/2 ML Fave)- Best last-out Beyer by a dozen earned
over a pro-speed surface, steps up, but faces no monsters here.
4) How About Peace (6/1 ML)- Ran against rail bias in local debut,
awkward starts 2 of last three a concern. Davila's won 3/11 last 14 days.
5) Storm Love (15/1 ML)- Two best efforts w/"The Q" riding, against
bias July 13 & June 20th. Graded handicap comment line:"Know Early."
6) Rushmore (10/1 ML)- Turf-2-Dirt for 8YO that should get decent
stalking trip, but keeps low % rider that 0-'fer 2016 Mountain meet.
7) Brat (8/1 ML)- All four local spins Ok, but 6YO is N4L eligible,
and hasn't won in over 12 months. Why pick this tough a spot?
1) Rancho Viejo (3/1 ML,PoE)- Outside speed was against bias
going 110 yards longer in last, can stalk 'n pounce if need be.
8) Champion Kid (30/1 ML)- 8YO was 111/1 vs. similar in last. Next.
9) Borren Identity (20/1 ML)- SuperHighFive filler last pair, 7YO
goes to 0/1 jock in 2016. Next.
1A) Grey Oak (3/1 ML,PoE)- 6YO on paper weaker half of entry.
Hasn't cracked 50 Beyer in over a year, likely closing half of entry.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE BOTTOM LINE: IMO, it's as EZ as 1-2-3.
Much like the 8th, i can find no value, unless there's a pace meltdown.
Three contenders should anchor all horizontals: #1(PoE),#2,#3.
GOOD LUCK to ALL, & See You at NIGHT SCHOOL!

If I may, Bob.....I see the Late Double @ MNR this way:
8TH RACE BOSSES NOTION Dominates here--not even gonna look for a saver
9th and final I like the longshot STORM LOVE @ 15-1 to put that speed together and possibly pull an upset--and I'll leave the fav C V EIS to give me a $5 LATE DD / , $10 total
