His Pimlico special was promising, but if you go back to his Hals Hope he had a golden opportunity and hung badly when put down to win a duel, even with the momentum.
I was rooting for him(as a fan), but my ticket only used him under 'All' so my money was against him. I always liked him during the triple crown trail.
Hope he's OK, and they can find a level for him to shine without emptying his tank so abruptly.
My ticket keyed the longest shot on the board
MATROOH in all positions, and
BACKYARD HEAVEN only 1st and 2nd slots. 'All' button in the other positions.
The 6 dime-supers cost $4.20 each for a total of $25.20
and I emphasized the potential chalky outcome with one more $4.20 6/all/all/5 , and one 50cent tri 6/all/5. to bring the total to $32.90.
Longest shot on the board got 3rd, but 4/5 Brickyard Heaven couldn't land in the exacta (or anywhere in the superfecta), so
loss of $32.90...
ALL/ALL/ALL/5 dime super would've been additional $50.40 (and a loss)
and ALL/ALL/5 50cent tri would've been additional $36 ($86.40 total more) (and a nice score)
wasn't comfortable throwing down the money for an All-to-Matrooh as much as I loved his form and projected trip to translate into a real chance at 4th or 3rd, even though he was the longest shot on the board, because then I'd really have to punch the Brickyard Heaven tickets even more because I felt he was a true favorite, albeit about 8/5 instead of the 4/5 he went off at. When I agree with the favorite, I don't put almost 3x the money betting against him. Have to 'emphasize' chalkier combinations with higher denominations and it gets expensive and complex, so I went with the simple investment that required 2 keys and was easier to profit from a favorite running to his expected ability.
This specific time however the tri paid like $760, but you gotta play the process and not get caught up second-guessing the outcome. No big deal, just won't sleep for 2 days
