Of course she was a leftist. Most kids in college believe fairy tales like socialism works. As you age, and develop mentally , you gain understanding how the world works . That is why college is always full of leftist that are going to change the system. Since the 60's they graduate and the system has remained the same. Those people gain life experience and become more conservative. Although there will always be a few older mentally stunted people who remain stuck in that childlike state of thinking.

Then thy become conservatives.
That is why many take liberal arts programs - to stay ignorant.

I admit I too was once a bleeding heart, and thought socialism may be a viable idea, and the idea of an economic fairy-tale of a service based economy. I learned in the actual world, in which all people are not like-minded in their thinking, that theory and practical application of the theory are really disparate. The people who can't grasp the incompatibles between application and theoretical concepts are child-like in their thinking and hold on to the delusions that concepts like socialism will work in a different societal setting.
After socialism's documented repeated failures due to the hardships arising in its application, we still have child-like thinking being responsible for current hardships in Venezuela caused by implementing socialism. Worse yet, we have a leftist wing of a major U.S. political party advocating socialism, while we are all witnessing the destruction of Venezuela in real time.

Slavery built the pyramids maybe we should defund them too. It's tourism promoting a monument to slavery!
It makes no sense that a eugenicist funding planned parenthood should matter about the group now.
Reactionary types are always looking for some type of effigy to set a fire for their beliefs.
