At a Minor Track

What I care about is winning. I've won and lost at so-called major and minor tracks. Without much thought or research these are my five favorite minor tracks: River Downs, Turfway Park, Penn National, Thistledown, and Charles Town. I would like hear other people's five best minor or interrmediate tracks.

Did anybody ever read the book Small Track Betting by C.N. Richardson? The title is interesting.

I think Tampa stands out head and heals over the rest of these kinds of tracks. In the summer, it is hard to find a good one because there are so many fighting over a limited number horses, thus the fields are small and weak.

lately I've been doing well (ROI>1.0) at HOU. I also find spot plays now and then worth playing at SUN and even BEU! I virtually never play PM or TP.

I'm a small bettor so I don't worry about affecting the odds at the small tracks.

I never used to play Pen and CT, as I never did well when I tried.

Now that I have a database to do some research, I have been playing both of them, along with some other minor tracks, with good results so far this year.

Every track needs it own set of rules I think. The ability to look at thousands of consecutive races at a time can be of great benefit.

Regards,

Windoor.

as handicappers i am sure you guys will find that you get over-all better value with these smaller tracks because their signal fees are much less than top circuits like new york, california, and florida.

Have always had a fondness for the smaller tracks, often find very solid best bet type plays there. Not unusal to love a runner in a bottom level race for say 3500 NW2L. The big money players tend to skip the minors, thus helping the prices, although there are occasional large last minute odds plunges. Unable to really pick any track as a favorite, although have done okay at Beulah and Portland. Do have to pick your spots patiently, these cheapies are erratic, but when everything fits they often reward.

I'm successful at:

1. Golden Gate
2. Delaware Park
3. Turf Paradise
4. Finger Lakes
5. Emerald downs

We may be blurring the distinction between minor, mid level, and major tracks. Tampa is hardly a minor track today. They have done some good things in recent years and their racing is at least mid level. A cut below the big CA, NY, and KY tracks certainly, but not all that far behind their cross state rival Gulfstream.

I have fond memories of playing Mountaineer, Delta Downs Will Rogers Downs Remington Park and Evangeline. Seems the last week though I can't pick a winner in a one horse race.
