Guy has 30+ years doing what he loves.
The comments here are starting to sound like sour grapes from people who never pursued a dream.

Chris Griffin at AQU
John Imbriale at BEL
Frank Mirahmadi at SAR

So now Parx and Monmouth Park need to find announcers for next year then if this goes official

Pretty sad that NYRA can't even find a full-timer to announce at all 3 of their tracks hell I minds well send them the Rachel A tape and see if they can hire me

This feels exactly like Grand River (where I work) where we have 3 different charters in the same week; 1 girl does Monday 1 guy does Wednesday+qualifers and the actual charter who used to do every day now only does Friday

Cheap.
Cheaper.
Cheapest.

Pay TRAVIS STONE and give him the whole gig. Make this a non-issue for the next 15-20 years!!!

Wouldn’t surprise me if Monmouth hired Griffin. He calls Monmouth before Mirahmadi arrives from California and would seem to be perfect fit calendar wise

Griffin is pretty good, imho.
So. will Colmuss go to Monmouth?
He has been onsite for TVG all season, maybe a few discussions took place?

Del Mar's video is far worse. Camera is zoomed out way too far the entire race until deep stretch when they switch to a closeup of ONLY THE LEADER. If you want to see if you caught 2nd for your exacta you're SOL. By far the worst video of any major track.

I apologize for the photo dump, but I feel it speaks volumes for how difficult it is to see anything at Saratoga. If you look at the fox coverage it's head and shoulders compared to the track feed.

These screen shots are from the Monday following fourstardave weekend. Do you see Casa Creed? You really don't see many horses until they turn for home. A good 75% of the race isn't being shown.

I can't expect anyone to call these races when you have obstacles terrorizing the view

My minority opinion is that no one is better than winter '21 when Mike Bozich filled while Parx sought successor to Keith Jones.
Not a screamer, but just the right emphasis with phrasing and verve for stretch battles. Wish he wanted it and/or there was a place for him.

I have a different take from some others here.

Chris Griffin is a relatively young race caller who shows promise and might become the mainstay. Mirahmadi has been his mentor and has more experience with "big time" race calling; makes sense to have him help with the Saratoga transition. Imbriale - who I continue to think gets undue grief here - is of an age where he might legitimately WANT to retire.

Seems to me like sorting out a succession plan, having a backup plan, and not any sort of diss to Imbriale or a sign of cheapness by NRYA.
