Breeders' Cup Futures
I'm new to gambling on the horses - I normally only wager on Table Tennis matches in Russia but have decided to try the Ponies.
On Bavada.com,
https://www.bovada.lv/sports/horses-...racing-futures
Bovada lists the following FUTURE Odds for the Filly and Mare BC Turf race in downtown Del Mar this November.....
Question: Would you consider Gufo good value at 9/2 in this race below?
Thanks,
Vince P

Welcome to the game! Personally not at 9/2 for me. I don't dislike the horse but I don't see any value in 9/2. I don't think Gufo will be much lower than 9/2 even on raceday. Anyone disagree? Maybe I'm off base. Gufo kind of got it done workmanlike with the flow last time. Honest horse but if the pace doesn't go his way I think he's probably going to be underneath. Plus I have Gufo down as a male so definitely don't take a shot on that one for the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf. lol

I'd be willing to lay $100 on Japan in the Longines Turf @ 20-1

my experience with horse 'futures' is this
over half of those horses listed will not start (you lose your bet)
of those that do run, most will have better odds on the day of the race
I would be surprised if there are more than 2 overlays on that list/race and they will not be very big

I had no idea gambling on table tennis in Russia was even a thing. How do you do with that?

Doping was a big problem in Russian table tennis until they turned all regulation over to the government.

You've got to keep very good records on equipment changes. The surface of a paddle can make all the difference.

If you want a guy to lose in Russian table tennis. You load the ping pong ball up with uranium.

Or you load the Russian player up with vodka.

Don't wager on Santa Barbara, as she died a few days ago.

Thank you all for the replies - I am learning more and more about this horse racing game each day. Hopefully by Breeders' Cup time, I will make some informed and sensible horse wagers.
However, I am very confused. While flipping through my American Turf Monthly magazine, I noticed Gufo is listed as a "4 year old Colt," which is a "Young Male Horse" according to Collier's Encyclopedia.
This specific Breeders' Cup race below appears to be for "Filly and Mares" which are identified as either, "Filly: a young female horse, especially one less than four years old' or "Mare: an adult female horse."
Is Gufo more or less a Transgender animal? If so, how do they normally identify (for entry purposes)?
Thanks for any help.

Gufo is a colt, end of story, whoever made the betting line for this race sounds like an amateur & untrustworthy shop to have him included. In fact I don't know how updated this grouping is, but several on here are definitely not going to be running in the Breeders' Cup for one reason or another.

Thanks.
One more question.
In my Handicapping 101 Class I am taking in college, our Professor said, "Don't bet favorites all the time - that is a sure way to lose you ass."
However I couldn't help notice that the Future odds on this horse, Jackie's Warrior, are 3-1.
I watched this horse on FOX television last month and after rewinding my tape, I noticed that he was literally almost eaten alive while racing, but even still WON that race like a tremendous machine.
I'm thinking he will be odds-on at the Breeders' Cup so shouldn't 3-1 be very good value today?
