This has been going on for decades.
This is called pari mutual horserace betting. Horses start off at very low odds and then go up to 6:5.
I have seen this for decades.
Only recently have people been able to cancel a bet. So it does happen some. But the result is the same.
It should not upset anyone at all. Why would anyone bet a horse at less than 5-1 odds anyways?

another example of the absence of integrity with pari mutuel pools.
IMO this is one of the main reasons why this game struggles to attract new people.
If these keeps up, ADW's will have to allow betting on Power Boat Racing in Japan just to keep their domain names.

I rather bet on a boat race than Penn National. On the other the hand, I have bet on enough "boat" races at thoroughbred tracks over the years.

The assumption was that he was forcing players on the second choice.. The track announcers have said this repeatedly. I have heard no mention from them that the money was removed late.

That's classic!!!
Basically been using this for 15 years not knowing what it meant....basically whenever a bet didn't go my way or a game I'd cry it's a boat race or boat game hahahaha

If he's removing money or not, what in the WORLD would the point be of laying in early other than to stimulate play on other contenders?????
In the end , it IS other players being manipulated. Look, I don't like what the guy does either. I cringe when he opens horses at 1/9, and I've called him out as a mediocre (at best) handicapper. But I suspect that the amount cancelled is sometimes exaggerated by bettors loath to admit they've been played.
So how is it not good and pertinent advice on my part for players to beware of sharply falling odds on obvious alternatives to the mad bomber's selection?

It's hard and distasteful enough ( for various reasons) fo a track oddsmaker to go sufficiently low on certain chalks, but the mad bomber's unpredictable influence makes it next to impossible for me.
