Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes

King for a Day (KY)
TB, B, C, FOALED FEBRUARY 9, 2016
( UNCLE MO - UBETWEREVEN, BY FRENCH DEPUTY )

Top performer in the Jockey Club Stakes. Took money.

The fact that he was the 4th horse across the wire helps his odds next time vs a similar group.

Should appreciate lots of distance and the more pace - the better(as long as he's allowed to cruise and not hard-used up front).

Has yet to show any kind of 'electric' move. Maybe he is one paced and not that talented. Maybe he'll improve.

As always w/3yos, and especially so after a performance that gets to the bottom of a horse, health is significant. Want to see him work soon, maybe 7-14 days after the race and show no ill-effects.

At the end of the day, does not appear to be a star, but an interesting juvenile to watch moving forward.

Might be Pletcher's best 2YO. Pletcher's crop looks week thus far.

I haven't seen his whole crop yet, but this one caught my eye as a solid horse and a good effort against the grain.

Pletcher doesn't have the same aura these days, although his overall percentages are super. Not been his usual dominant 2yo crop...

Florida will reveal his hand, if he has some more aces.

That race was hot and fast no? Any idea why Knicks Go was sent hard? Knicks go was making up lengths in BC and I expected him to Rate....but was sent hard.. into supersonic fractions, and was backing up badly in the final 1/8th. That does not bode well for getting 10 Furlongs.

They felt they had to choose between sending to the front or racing very wide from that wide post draw.

Last year's race featured many horses that came back and won or placed next out, sometimes at big odds. It turned out to be a very key race. I'll play this potential class angle for the next race of each runner and see what happens.

It is once again a juicy race to handicap for bet-backs.
