The more I think about it, the more I support it. The only people this hurts are those not paying attention and betting via conditional bets through an ADW.

Back in the old days, DED took trifecta wagers every other race. Most of the people there regarded it as sorta a mini lottery. So, the lines were long for trifecta races.
But people didn't head for the windows until the announcer said that it was post time. Then, there'd be 20 people in every line. Usually about 2 or 3 people in each line would get shut out. But it was at least 5 minutes after post time before the race went off and wagering ended.
Then someone had a manual ticket machine in their car and they eventually had to switch to electronic wagering because several times large tickets were cashed that weren't sold.

If anyone has noticed GP hasn't been able to time their turf races. You look at the charts and sometimes you get fractions but the vast majority of time every call is blank and maybe there's a final time. Then the other night something clicked in my mind.... how are they getting speed figures if they can't time the race? it's a cluster for sure... and they really need to get their act together. Now every race ran on the turf is basically worthless for cappers going forward.
I think the poly track is backfiring on them... it's def hurting their handle, and the races this year for the "championship meet" have been sub par from previous years. I can't even find a race to bet. Like tomo's card... those turf races aren't even competitive.
i dunno... something just seems really wrong at gulfstream park this year.

So true....
When you send in a conditional bet and use 0 mins at cutoff....
your screwed because of all the changes in that 5-10 minutes after your bet is finalized...and you really didn't get what you wanted

No problem, I'm sure GP could not care less about their customers.
If they walked into the grandstand and started slapping people it would be an improvement.

They fool the TVG producers EVERY time. So many live races from other tracks not shown while we watch horses slowly shuffle around the GP backstretch.

Of all the tracks I have bet in my lifetime it seems the big 3 New York tracks are the best at getting the races off at post time.

You should check out the racing from UK and Aus. They run like clockwork, don't hesitate to pull horses from a race if it's acting up during the load, and the level of post-time coordination between their circuits is impressive.

Australia does do a good job.
In the UK/Ire, the tracks who have media agreements with the RacingTV (RTV) channel are very punctual.
The 16 tracks owned by Arena Racing Company and broadcast by the South Africa based TellyTrack are not quite as punctual, often sliding over into RTV track post times on a busy day.

Gulfstream
occasionally great betting races
the stakes, the meteorological Othello syndrome, their 'Rainbow giga-takes', the timing issues, the Post Time Procrastination...
but for some reason it's their ultra-safe 'Guaranteed Pools' that really grind my gears

I think I figured out what they are doing.
I notice the post time for an upcoming race is about 15 minutes. Where most tracks have about 25-30 minutes between races.
When GP announced they would have no drag time anymore, the post time was about 10 minutes longer.
So the actual time between races is equivalent to other tracks.
GP's way is still weird.

The Meadows harness displayed this notice today on their telecast:
Effective January 5, The Meadows will eliminate post time "drag"
The gate will begin moving at 0 mtp and roll continuously to the start of the race.
That's nice to see. Hopefully they stick with it.

That is the problem. The consumer(racing fan) won't do anything like that to fix the problem. They treat us like garbage because no matter what they do, we keep coming back for the abuse!
