Pretty good Derby breakdown
I thought these guys were great and pretty spot on with their analysis. Fun watch if you're addicted to The Derby, like I am lol. Keeneland Dan is actually Mick Cronin's brother...the resemblance, especially the voice, is uncanny.

Dan Cronin made a comment during this show that caught my attention.
He said "If Taiba won his maiden by 7 lengths, then ran an allowance and won by 10, ran the Bob & Beverly Lewis Stakes and won by 2, and then won the Santa Anita by 2....he'd be 6/5 morning line, wouldn't he? The only reason he's not is he's only ran 2 races".
Horse racing has become so much more unconventional in recent years, and so many records have been broken, I wonder if Taiba runs away with this with a good trip.

I caught that too, and was thinking the same thing. I remember poo-pooing Justify for "not beating anything, running short fields, unraced at 2, Storm Cat, etc". At the end of the day, he was the fastest horse, and it really wasn't that close. Fortunately, I came around enough to get some money on him. I won't be so trepid with Taiba. Not gonna double first the horse, but if he's 5 or 6 to 1 then I'll make him the primary play and not be sad if I lose when I consider Justify was 5/2. The only difference between him and Justify is an allowance race. A little deja vu to 2017 when Baffert had the fast inexperienced horse and Chad Brown had the more accomplished horse. Taiba/Zandon exacta for old time's sake. And since I like Taiba, I at least have to hedge a little with Messier, who looks like a better version of Medina Spirit at this point. JV is a stud Derby pilot.

I will likely back up some tickets with Messier also. The only thing I have real concerns about is his final fractions in the Santa Anita.

I know my Safari browser has started swallowing a lot of these links rather than displaying them. Don't exactly know why all of a sudden, and what I might do to turn off the behavior.
If I really want to see what's being referred to, I click as if I'm doing a "quote" reply and the url shows up in the quote portion. I can then copy and paste it in my browser.
