This song isn't a tune back in my day but it was my deceased uncle's favorite song. He was known as the rogue and the black sheep of the family, which explains this to a degree. Spoiler alert: the song makes a reference to the Aga Khan.

Nilsson - "Without You" was a cover from "Badfinger"

They played the hit "Without You" to death when Nilsson released it. But I think it holds up today. It was a one take recording in the studio.

I was watching the documentary "Who is Harry Nilsson and Why is Everybody Talkin' 'bout him" on Amazon Prime Video a few months ago. An interesting perspective of the man and his music.

I didn't realize until watching that video that his mega hit "Without You" was actually a cover, originally done by the band "Badfinger". I had always thought that Nilsson wrote "Without You".
I also didn't know about Nilsson's relationship with John Lennon. That didn't surprise me, but I was surprised that I never knew about them being friends.

Nilsson's hit version;

The original "Badfinger' version;

The Nilsson documentary is also available on Youtube if you are interested;

Huge local band mid 60's, coming to you direct fron the Purple Pig in Bristol, an old barn turned nightclub, where the legendary John Lee Hooker even played in the shadow of Bristol Mt ski slope.
