Westbrook breaks hand

I'm sure CJ is chomping at the bit but didn't want to start the thread. Balls in your court.

I mentioned it already in the over/under thread, made my bet a lock!

What can you do? He'll be back, hopefully the hole isn't too deep to make the playoffs. As long as they can do that, seeding has never meant that much in my opinion.

A couple of Superstars who have not played the full season might be a good thing. That is assuming they come all the way back from their injures which they should.

Sorry about that since SRU insists the games are fixed and predetermined I don't look in there (U/O) or similar topics much. All you need is inside info and head to Monmouth Park when sw is legal to clean up.

I assume you went under.

Yep, never seen an NBA team so decimated this early...Durant, Westbrook, Jackson, Lamb, Morrow, McGary, and Jarrett (who cares) all out, down to 8 bodies for home opener.

Never been more proud of a team than I was last night, absolutely huge effort. The crowd was going nuts, standing O after first quarter.

Another bad break

Can't believe the bad luck for OKC with this, but I would be more worried about the implications for the future. This is my second favorite team, and I would like to see them get some titles. WB has missed significant chunks of recent seasons with injuries, as we know. That this one doesn't involve the knees makes me wonder if his seeming brittleness could cost the team championships going forward. Would be tragic because he should be on his way to being one of the best ever.

Re this year - guessing they'll go maybe 8-12 for the first 20 games in this decimated state. If they can just play .700 ball for the remainder of the season, they should have no problem making the playoffs. But, given the level of competition in the west, I think they will need to hit that 50-win mark - won't be easy.

Very gutty effort the other night in LA, when Ibaka tried that shot at the buzzer to tie the game i said out loud "GO IN". I just thought it would have been great drama if he made that shot and would have put an already exciting game into OT. Also, that's a shot that KD or RW would be taking at the end of the game, not Ibaka, so it would have been really cool to see him sink that shot and send it to OT. I don't root for OKC, but you had to be super proud of that effort, very gutty.

You say "worst officiated" but maybe it was "best" officiated from the standpoint of the NBA's coffers.

People forget that the NBA is an entertainment organization, there is no "state law" that says have to call a game honestly, all they care about is providing the most "entertainment" possible....and by handing OKC the game last night, they put themselves in a great position to have a game 7 back in OKC. If they had called the game fairly and the CLippers had won, there's less of a chance there would have been 7 games as LAC would have been favored to win game 6.

So, they just put themselves in a more favorable position to have 7 games in stead of 6....

seems like that's more "entertaining" than the idea this series might only go 6.

Totally. The refs did everything in their power to get the Clippers beat. The last 30 seconds were a travesty. Ball obviously out of bounds off OKC player, given to OKC, Phantom foul on CP3 to "bail out" a shot that wasnt even close.

This game will be talked about for a really long time and not in a good way for the NBA.

Same reason people watch the WWF.

Also, why is it just assumed that the results in the NBA aren't scripted?
What's the difference if they are? Its an entertainment organization, their job is to provide the best entertainment they can, why would they just let the results fall randomly when they can control the results thru the refs?

I think another factor is that the players realize that the NBA wants these serieses to go 6 or 7 games, so they know that even if they leave blood n guts on the floor, the NBA will still have their way.

The NBA feels that fans are idiots and they don't know what's going on....these 5 games between SA and OKC, two of the powers in the west, are just a joke, the product takes a huge hit when teams lie down and make no real attempt to win.

Unless something drastic changes, the Spurs will win in 7, at home, by 20 or more after getting blown out in game 6. When fans see these type of games, what are they supposed to think? It LOOKS fishy and it looks bad and it looks like "something is up".

How can as series be more competitive than 3-2? The Clippers would be home by now.

Because the Clippers wouldn't have rolled over in the road games.

As far as "competitive" goes, its not a competitive series at all, the losing team hasn't competed yet.

Nobody who loses gets remembered...unless you're the Buffalo Bills.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You seem more offended than Gus that someone dare suggest these games are fixed. We saw Donaghy fix games, he said other refs fix games, you see "superstar calls" which is essentially game fixing, its an entertainment league, they don't have olympic style drug testing like "true sport" this is an entertainment league, its still a really good product, its fun to watch, but why is it important that the results are "pure"? We all watched WWF as kids, we knew the matches were setups, but we didnt care, we loved it and watched anyway, why does NBA have to be pure sport in order for us to enjoy it?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

nice writeup L!

There is a lot of "talk" about this series, i wonder if they'll have a close game here to say to the conspiracy theorists "See, we're an honest sport".

Maybe SA will "ambush" OKC and actually try tonight.

I would imagine the "league" is "all out" to get a Heat win.
