Joe Namath was despised in Baltimore when I was a kid. Didn't really understand it at the time as Super Bowl III occurred when I was only 2.

I've heard some commentators say that, without the Jets' victory over the Colts in Super Bowl III, and the Chiefs' victory over the Vikings in Super Bowl IV the following year, the NFL-AFL merger might never have happened.

Former Thoroughbred trainer Jim Hudson had an important interception in that game.

You were rich. My Dad bought a Sony Trinitron in 1973 and it was the greatest thing in the history of the world at the time.

Jim is the answer to my favorite trivia question. Name the only person with a super bowl ring (jets), an NCAA championship ring (Texas 1963), and a trainers title (retama).

Joe was great by way of his style and charisma. His bad legs hampered his numbers, but those light feet dancing in his early years was fun to watch.
Seeing the Jets beat the Colts was exciting, maybe the biggest upset in all of sports.

329 dollars in 1969 would, adjusted for inflation, be $2251.07 today.

The merger already happened. That's why the had a game between the NFL and AFL that later became the Super Bowl.
