I completely forgot the winner of this race gets an auto berth to the Preakness.
Also, the Oaklawn Mile drew a fantastic field. Tom's D'Etat, Mr Money, Improbable all coming back and the solid local contingent (Pioneer Spirit, et al) all signed on. Should be a good Saturday...

the 1 is going to take all kinds of ridiculous money...and there's no guarantee of a big race, only hope of one
outside of him the race looks wide open with one underwhelming horse after another.

seems like most of these horses just run evenly in graded races.
can't really expect to get any price on farmington rd, and do u really want baffert @ 4-1 something as well, which you may not even get that high.

I'll play the race for some cheap entertainment. Potentially a mudder. I'm not impressed with this lot but looks like a competitive race where the 50 cent trifecta could hit three figures. gets hot rider but I think the distance is a bit much for this colt. has class but speed figs are nothing special. would need to pull a theft. might ultimately be a miler. offers some intrigue for a price. JR up and enjoyed the slop last out. probably another miler. gets shades and should have some pace to run at. Needs to improve to win here. seems to appreciate a wet track but post hurts given the style.
Probably a low confidence play on the if wet and I can get 6-1 or better.

Runnin' behind . . .
I don’t think the or the are particularly well suited for the distance but both have a class and pace advantage that’ll be difficult for the others to overcome.
If the and the duel, which may happen, the Diodoro trained Davis homebred Sir Rick is coming around, shows a nice paired speed figure pattern, was “much [the] best” 18 Jan and “drew off” in his last – I think he has a shot at it. Taishan shows a nice LP in his last and had “plenty left” while “ridden out”. Shoplifted ran a sharp one in the 400k Springboard and comes in fresh w/6 works.
I think overall, a particularly uninspiring race, but a good thang that they’re still runnin’ at the OP . . .

See nothing wrong with the Sir Rick. It is not like he has not passed a horse in his life. Think the Bris running style of E8 is misleading. Trainer is good, although, some might question his methods. Last two pace lines say the extra distance is within reach. With no stand out in the race and a 15/1 ML, worth a shot.

i don't know what kind of odds you're going to get (4/5-1) on farmington rd but his maiden win at tampa was pretty fast. quite a few in here go that time for 1 mile not 1/40.

speed that looks like is on the improve..seems like these kinds of horses have been hanging around for big chunk.
will be interesting t see what kind of price he will be. maybe under 10-1
he'll be tested for class..but at least he hasn't had his finish middle of the pack graded race like most of these do....... yet
