I didn't think it made a lot sense to take him to Illinois.
They aught to rename him Boomerang......he ALWAYS comes back!

Hey, all is not lost...Finger Lakes is open now.
We have lots of 4-1/2 furlong races he might last in!

I think he can be a really good 7-8f horse. He should give him a little break and point him to the sprint race on Belmont day. Then the Kings Bishop. He is a solid horse IMO.

Agree with this one here. I think he could make a hell of a miler or maybe a 7f horse. But there is no reason to go to KY here.

Other than the fact, that I need to start finding more horses to toss, and he would be an easy toss.

" I don't think it makes sense to go to the Derby"

There are probably half a dozen other owners that think the same way, but will be there anyway...

Some options for the Hawk

May 10th, Laz Barerra Memorial at Santa Anita 7 furlongs for 100,000 Grade 3
June 7th, Affirmed Handicap at Santa Anita 1 1/16 for 100,000 Grade 3
June 28th, Iowa Derby at Prairie Meadows 1 1/16 for 250,000 Grade 3
June 7th, Woody Stephens at Belmont 7 furlongs for 500,000 Grade 2
June 14th, Matt Winn at Churchill 1 1/16 for 100,000 Grade 3

I think the Laz Barrerra, Affirmed Handicap then Iowa Derby route is the way I'd go. Two races at home against not that tough competition, than a nice pot in Iowa. Finish up the year try to win all the other Derby's. 300K Ohio Derby, Indiana Derby, Mystic Lake Derby etc. etc.

You can still rattle off a bunch of money with horses like this. Especially when they seem sound because Hawk hasn't had a layoff line or anything so far in his career.

Thebigguy:

Have you seen Midnight Hawk's pedigree?

He's bred to go fox hunting!

Hawks pedigree is good but Hawk can't get the distance.....have you seen Chromes pedigree? It suggests he can't get the distance but he will prove the so called pedigree experts wrong.

Some horses it doesn't matter if their pedigree couldn't get past 1 mile, they are just freaks & outrun their pedigree & some horses can't match to what their pedigree has run.

Horses don't know their history of pedigree, they are trained & put out on a racecourse & run until their hearts content.
