Gold Town

One fool proof angle in betting the KY Derby is always
leave out any winner of the UAE Derby shipping over.
Year after year, they don't have an impact in Louisville.

I would contend that someday, this angle will be no longer be 100%.
Could that happen in 2018? Maybe so.

Gold Town and Mendelssohn are two nice horses.
We've seen Aidan O'Brien's colt win the BC Juvenile Turf.
He is due to run again Saturday in Dubai, having won recently
in a trial race on all-weather in Dundalk, Ireland.

Gold Town is likely to face him in the UAE Derby,
and will be favored to beat him. Visually impressive in winning
the UAE 2000 Guineas at Meydan, he has been supplemented
for the Triple Crown races. By Street Sense, there is
no doubt he can handle dirt. He's a runner - possibly the best
3 year old that Godolphin has had. Here's his last win:

This is his pedigree line:

He is still available at 50-1 in Nevada future books.
I've thrown away $50 on worse horses.

If he wins on Saturday, he will go off at less
than half those odds at Churchill in May.

I really want to see the UAE Derby. I think Obrien is running 3 horses againt Gold Town. I really want to see Gold Town come over for the Derby-hope he runs at least 2nd. I definatly like him better than half the horses on the KY Derby point list at this time

Gold Town will be tough. He's got Mr. P line on top and a couple of solid dosage points. If there is an upset then Yulong Warrior could be the one. Another Mr. P with a strong tail female family. He's already won a long stakes at the track.

Gold Town is actually by Street Cry, not Street Sense (which is probably a good thing).

It should be noted that Gold Town is a gelding. On form, the added 3/16ths of a mile for the UAE Derby is a concern. On pedigree, deep in the female side he is related to long-winded runners Dank and Eagle Mountain, both of whom made a dent in BC turf races.

2nd dam by Sadler Wells, great stamina source, albeit on turf; sire of the greatest sire on the planet, Galileo.
