How ridiculous
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...tic-presidents
quote: The Texas Republican senator John Cornyn warned on Saturday that Donald Trump’s second impeachment could lead to the prosecution of former Democratic presidents if Republicans retake Congress in two years’ time.
Yes let's all make something up and waste Congress' time

that does not seem ridiculous to me
and the threshold has been set so low by the current democrats, I would expect an impeachment every decade for as long as the country survives

I agree 46zilzal.
Impeaching any President after he has left office is a waste of time.
To start with, Congress does not have the jurisdiction to try a private citizen.
It is unconstitutional.

most people are not progressive enough to interpret what was meant when they made those laws
we need people like Nancy Pelosi to tell us what is meant.

This current impeachment is only to ruin Trumps life and cripple his legacy...at least that's what they think they're doing to him. They're too out of their minds with anger and hate to realize its actually making Trump more popular, a news magnet, and eventually more powerful.
He knows all this. Its why he isn't saying much or doing anything.

And here all the time I was under the impression that it was to prevent him from every seeking public office again.

He has no legacy. At least none that anyone would care about ruining.

Trump will be tried for crimes committed while he was President. The fact that he is now a private citizen is irrelevant. There is precedent for trying someone after they left office. See William Belknapp.
Although I am uncertain whether you could impeach someone after.

Duh.
He is NOT going to run again , no matter what.
The ridiculous part of this that the senate is delaying Biden's agenda and his appointments. I am glad, bu it is STUPID of them to put their hatred ahead of the ELECTED POTUS.

Yo DS... What Crime? Point to it... Show the Clip! Just because irrationals emotionally stunted hate filled anti America anti Trump partisans ginned up a snap article don't make it so.
Wow you have to reach back to 1876... Guess what Belknap was acquitted by the Senate. Just like Trump will be if it gets that far.
Speaking of precedent... Nixon comes to mind. You know the one inline with the Constitution.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. In fact, I betcha if it is allowed to reach that point, they convict him convincingly.
