The People's Major Concern About Health Care

Poll: People Care More About High Health Costs Than About Pre-Existing Conditions

http://thefederalist.com/2018/12/14/...ng-conditions/

And to the chagrin of bleeding heart entitlement addicts, it's not pre-existing conditions to the majority.

Enjoy the read.

that article must be wrong ... it says insurance premiums doubled from 2013 to 2017. How can that be? 0bama said many times premiums would go down.

We need to start thinking about health care and not insurance.
Insurance is overhead, it adds cost.

It only went down for those who kept their doctors.

So what you are saying, is that when push comes to shove, people really don't want to pay for other people's exorbitant health care costs for pre-existing conditions like cancer?

Color me surprised.
Bernie Sanders is right about a couple of things. The COSTS of health care are what need to be addressed. Presciptions and other hospital/doctors costs need to be wrangled in some form or fashion.

First and foremost we need to get away from the practice of doctors simply prescribing drugs/pills for any and all ailments that effect their patients. We are a grossly sick pill-popping society.

So do we just tell everyone with cancer, diabetes, tumors, whatever, sorry, you get to go broke and live on the street?

This is why insurance is a stupid idea.

The solution is not just looking for ways to increase spending.
We need to start making serious cuts in spending that is NOT critical.

Our government wastes trillions of dollars.

And the majority's attitude is quite selfish and sticks a big prick into the balloon of Hcap's universal altruism theory. But to the rest of us who have at least one foot planted on the ground, we know better. We are not surprised.

My father spent 12 days in the hospital last month. The hospital sent claims to our insurance company that totaled $317,962.00. Insane, to say the least.

Unless we, as a nation, learn how to eat...we will never get a handle on this mess that our health-care has become. We are ruining our health with our own knives and forks...and then we complain about our insurance rates, and the price of our prescription drugs. Sheer madness...IMO.

That's a long term solution. Meanwhile, we're bleeding green profusely right now for health care. We need to stop the bleeding now. Growing government interference into and control of our personal health, over the many decades, is largely the cause.

I think pre-existing conditions are grossly over stated. Every state I believe has pre-existing conditions coverage as a requirement on all employee/employer group policies. So everyone in the country covered by employer/employee group polices don't have to worry. And now insurance companies also have to cover parents offspring to age 26 so that gives them a hell of a long time to be covered. So my advice is to find a job that has health benefits. Now to the remaining people that are able to work, get off your dead asses and find work that has health benefits. Medicaid/taxpayers have been and will continue to take care of the rest.

Channeling your inner Elizabeth Warren* or sarcasm? In general, people don't go broke b/c of illnesses. That's a popular myth put forth by Warren in a flawed study years back. I'm certain people do indeed go broke, but it isn't as widespread as she asserted(s).

*not meant to insult, just surprised by your post here.

A) Obama tried some of this and he was accused of creating death panels. You know if people took the time to understand some of Obama's healthcare policies, they would have realized his approach often created or expanded on market-based solutions, some of which have been slowed by Trump. Tom Price was very much opposed to value-based** Medicare initiatives (beholden/sympathetic to doctors). Of course he's gone now.

**better outcomes get paid more and vice versa

That's insane.

I'm guessing because even though I did study health care too I seem to remember fully 75% of all healthcare expense goes to the dying.

That would tend to bankrupt most of us.

The Government (Medicare) wants me to give up my rights and sign a living will advanced directive. They don't exactly spell it out who that benefits.

0bama was based on insurance. Dead on arrival.
Insurance is not part of the solution. When it is mandatory, it is not market based.
