Tampa Bay Speed Ratings 19 Dec
Not much post data available today. Too many maiden races to validate speed also.

My home grown speed figs. So far BRIS and Euro2 seem to work best. All figures are adjusted for weight change and post and the series with the suffix 2 are adjusted for age. I'm guessing that BRIS already adjusts for age, and that's why the BRIS2 doesn't seem to outperform the BRIS.
One angle to watch is when all 6 speed figures pick the same horse like in race 8 #1. This horse is very likely to be in the money.

Reading the Speed Fig Tea Leaves
Race 1 -- (Selection not Speed: 5-4)
6 vs 5(BRIS)
Race 2 -- (Selection not Speed: 3-4)
Mostly #4 (5 out of 6) -- only challenge is 3 from BRIS
Race 3 -- (Selection not Speed: 3-2)
8 vs 2(BRIS)
Race 4 -- (Selection not Speed: 1-4)
2 vs 1(BRIS)
Race 5 -- (Selection not Speed: 2-12)
4 vs BRIS 9-2
Race 6 -- (Selection not Speed: 1-2) Best Bet
unanimous 1-2
Race 7 -- (Selection not Speed: 6-7)
6 vs 7 (BRIS)
Race 8 -- (Selection not Speed: 5-3)
unanimous 4
Race 9 -- (Selection not Speed: 2-8)
unanimous 8-2
----------------------
BRIS should do better.

While doing my rewrite came across an old routine that dependent on values from a selected pace line. I have a work around for the selected pace line, but it does make me wonder if I'm just losing valuable info by not selecting a pace line in the rewrite. And in the old code, it automatically selected the pace line not a manual selection. The jury is still out on this. Should I or shouldn't select a pace line? That's about as exciting as it gets in a coder life.

I worried over that with my free program, automated paceline selection versus manually selected pacelines. I decided to use the automated paceline selections (with user ability to change the importance rankings for several factors involved in auto-paceline selection) because I knew that the output of that program would be used for import into the free database program, so we needed batch processing abilities and that means automated paceline selection must be incorporated into the program. But, I also incorporated a "manual override" function that allows the user to manually select pacelines in individual races during live handicapping (as well as in an optional method for processing the race files and results files for output to the database program). The best of both worlds, IMO.

My picks have been from my Quick Pick tab while I'm rewriting my main system. A man still has to bet come the weekend.
Good Luck!

Still looking at speed figs. The guest is a half baked, soon to be, Euro3. Only the BRIS speed figs use variants. The Guest figs are not part of the consensus.

I'm still thinking about adding the key PP line addition, not to override the other calculations but to add a little more info to the final calculations.
