anyone know what happened to California's "no racing in the rain" rule?

Santa Anita has already run a couple of days when it was raining. More rain is forecast for next week.

For the last few years, ever since the year with all the horse deaths, the track has announced cancellations and not run on rainy days. Has this policy been silently repealed?

My guess is the no racing in the rain was too strict. There is a certain level of moisture that the track can receive where its still good to race. Lets not forget that there is a drainage system under the track so the water does have somewhere to go.

I got my answer. Santa Anita will not race tomorrow. In other words, their average field size will be 4 horses lower than normal.

BTW, after all that, the rain came a little late. They could have gotten the card in yesterday on a fast track.

I used to love when it rained at Santa Anita the sealed track was very speed favoring. I think it was 1985, took my girlfriend for the first time, hit 6 straight win bets to start the card. She was like "why don't you come here more often?"
