He was around a long time. If you watch old shows from the 50's and 60's it's amazing how many Burt was a guest-star in. I wouldn't call him a technically polished actor but he had a magnetism that really made him one of the most popular actors of his time. Best film is tough. I'm going with Deliverance.

What an icon who gave us many fun performances.

One of my favorites of his was "White Lightning" from 1973.Saw it twice in a theatre, once at the top of a double feature and a few months later at the bottom half of another double feature. He played an Arkansas moonshiner,Gator McCluskey, sprung from prison to get the goods on an evil sheriff (played by Ned Beatty, 180 degrees from his pathetic rape victim in "Deliverance") but his real goal was to avenge the death of his brother, murdered by said evil sheriff. Burt at his good-ol'-boy best.Interesting look at the rural South in the early 70's.His father was police chief of Riviera Beach, Florida and Reynolds was studying law enforcement in college when he started acting in college plays

Oscar nominee for Boogie Nights. I think it's now on Netflix.
