You seem really hung up on a boating issue that resulted in zero harm to anyone. Apparently you just want to complete the middle east trifecta and add Iran to the "countries invaded list."
Again we are way off the reservation here. You want to go to war over US ships in Iranian territorial waters being held and then released within 15 hours... I'd rather not.

LOL this was not just a boating issue our navy was held captive against their will, made to put on clothes against their will.
USA has one of if not the most sophisticated navies in the world, these ships were in the region sailing these waters almost daily there is no way we accidentally went into iranian waters.
again the iranians committed an act of war on the USA and you somehow seem to be ok with that.

Is being detained for a day really an "act of war"?

Only a left wing loon wouldn't have been thinking this whole time they have a nuclear program and/or nukes themselves.

Honestly everything that happened was by the book on the Iranian side. They even got a couple of good propaganda photos out of it but overall... <shrug>
Navy report: Crews detained by Iran were 'derelict' in their duties
Can we put this to bed now?

Nobody thought they weren't developing weapons...
As for now... dear leader himself agrees they are honoring the agreement.
Trump administration says Iran is in compliance with the nuclear deal
Then there is the old Has/Had thing from the other day nobody against the agreement is touching.

Never said that either. They were leverage, bargaining chips, to get them to abandon their Nuclear Weapons Program.
The $2 billion you are referring to was repayment for Iranian purchases from the US they never received. Furthermore Iran had hundreds of billions that were frozen. If you're hung up over $2 billion cash I don't really know what to tell you... it was so meaningless in terms of the real numbers negotiated in the deal anyone who gets hung up on it is frankly looking for something to get hung up on. There are way worse parts of the deal anyway but that would require actually reading it.
A quick Google search revealed the French paid off a legal claim in 1991 over funds owed to the Shahs government... ironically for uranium enrichment. I can provide it if you'd like.
|
So...Iran paid in advance for merchandise they never received? Why would they pay in advance? Why not on a Letter of Credit or C.O.D. which is common for international transactions.
