What is the rational for switching a 1 1/16 mile turf race all the way down to a 7F dirt one when they run many 1 mile races on the dirt?

They don't run one mile races on the dirt, it is a 1m 1/8 track with no chute for mile races. Pretty sure the rule is 2yo races are changed to 7f, older are changed to 9f.

There used to be a chute for 1 mile races (Wilson Mile), but the last time they used it was in the early 90's, I believe.

I looked up track records at Saratoga and there was a listing for 1 mile or dirt (Key Contender 1992). Didn't realize they no longer run that distance. Thanks.

Charles Town cancelling three Tuesdays in November (5th, 12th & 19th) with the OK of the state racing boards over concerns of field size and purse funds.

it was mighty cold this morning, i went out running at 5:00 and it was cold. i got home and went on my scooter, turned around and came right home, couldn't take the cold. got in my car and i had no heat, but at least no wind and went out for breakfast.

Thanks.
Im assumimg Mtn is running tonight as scheduled? (dont want to spend time handicapping only to have the jocks decide at the last second that their tootsies are too cold to ride).

And how exactly could the announcer know if they jockeys are going to decide not to ride at the last second?
