R7 Del Mar $75K Green Flash Handicap

Alright you fargin' iceholes. Roman Maronie never forgets a fargin' race kid.

And thus we have the Green Flash. This race has come up huge even with just an 8 horse field.

3YOs and up going 5F on the green stuff with very much some of the best turf sprinters in the country locking heads.

Richard's Boy: This will be his first race back since his venture to Dubai. This near $900K earner is a legit race horse and was a mere runner-up in last year's BC Turf Sprint. 5 (2-2-1) record at the track is appetizing, but the guy who beat him just last November will be right beside him at the start.

Stormy Liberal: Last year's BC Turf Sprint Champ that is fresh off another win at this very venue and distance is a mere 2/1 ML favorite. Pretty much tells you the story of the quality of this $75K field. DVD is back on, but this is far from being a lock, much less a single in any horizontal wagering.

Tribalist: Nearly took Stormy wire to wire last out only to be beaten by a nose. IF you are looking for lightly raced 7YO horses, this guy fits the bill with 10 lifetime starts over 6 years. He has proven he can run with these, and can beat them as well. In fact, he is the defending champ.

Touching Rainbows: This Irish bred with Giant's Causeway influence will take to the turf once again going the shortest distance of his career. Not sure the connections expected this race to come up this tough, but I doubt they scratch. He certainly wasn't embarrassed in the G1 Bing Crosby last out, and has some speed of foot. Can he be a short sprint turf closer? Stranger things have certainly happened.

Right Hand Man: 35/1 last out against some tough rivals in here, and wasn't exactly spanked. Connections will take another swing in here. Tough to see him winning, but if things fall apart, this guy isn't exactly chopped liver and could pick up a lot of pieces.

The Rule of King's: Trainer is a legit 1 for 77 this year and was beaten by 14 lengths in his only turf race in a Maiden race at Santa Anita. Strictly a bottom end of Tri's and Super's looking to bank on other's closing up shop for a better day.

Pee Wee Reese: Spanked Richard's Boy two back going down the hill at Santa Anita. This guy likes to win, and he has beaten some damn good horses. Crazy to think, but you have to question whether he can wire this field like his normal fashion while shortening up. Tough post with a lot of really good horses inside of him that have proven turf sprint speed. He is a fan favorite on the Left Coast, so he'll get bet.

Candy Crew: Claimed for $25K just 3 weeks ago, runs a bullet, and here we are. He is a 3YO, so he can certainly improve. His two turf races leave a bit to be desired, and to think he can beat this field is very much asking quite a bit. Favorite to be DFL.

Very nice summary and very tough race. Looking for the inside speed to fall apart. Pee Wee Reese and his stamina to beat them at the wire.

Dime super ($10.80): 4,7 / 2,4,5,7 / 1,2,3,4,5,8 / 1,2,3,4,5,8

I played against Pee Wee in his last race (easy toss at the distance and field), but I think he will be tough with the cut back here. There is other speed, so maybe he'll get fried, but he's a quality horse. Good race.

this is a good race and a really good card.

BC turf sprint 1st and 2nd runners are in this one and both are not locks to win.

I like Tribalist, who loves this course. Honestly though, you could pick maybe 6 out of the 8 on top and you would not be crazy.

Good race, will not blame anyone for their pick, although the and are legit 100-1 shots. Pee Wee looks strong here, but the distance might be to short for him. Touching Rainbows is the pick here. Stevens got to know the horse last time out. Since moving barns has been improving and meeting every class rise. Does not need the lead and can handle the pace. And 8-1 or better is a good probability.
