legalization of marijuana

.
I just got an email (I don't know why they have my email address) from my County Executive indicating that marijuana is now legal in my County

all of these things, marijuana, alcohol and gambling are potentially harmful
maybe it is a small % of users who are harmed

you don't hear much talk about alcoholism
according to N.I.H. 10.6% of the population over the age of 12 had AUD (alcohol use disorder) in the past year

Government authorities know that all of this stuff can be harmful

but they can't move against it - there are just too many people who want to partake

the huge increase in the availability of legal gambling is shocking

no politician wants to take a strong stand against things that are very, very popular

i'm working towards being able to afford paying the dr for the visit, and then paying the dispensary for the product.

apparently 'high cbd?' level is more relaxing side (and i can't deal with panic attacks at least w/out a tolerance to the strong stuff going around)
-POINT is, I would like to replace OPIATE pain management either totally or all but rare/occasional emergency relief/rescue situations.

my connective tissue disorder
problem 'Dural' tissue of the spinal cord stretched/balooned out
ouch

sort of unrelated aortic repair infection and the doctor told me that they now have 'gummies'? where the dosage is relatively exact and they may help a great deal.

Opiates are great pain relievers and allow you to function 'through' pain and physical issues, but they aren't ideal in being sustainable. Changes/care-lapses/PharmacyShortages/etc... teach HARD how physically addictive these are.

interested in following the doctor's advice to try the gummies. He told that you could get a higher strength dosage, and then use a knife to cut even slices, quarters, or halves to save money at the dispensary. He was enthusiastic.

I'm cautious.. (hey i don't want it to dull my brilliant horseplaying ), but will try it when can afford it

/random mini-rant - i haven't smoked street cannabis in years/decades, tasted several years ago Wayyy to strong and stimulating....
also - pet peeve - FFUCKKK these 'skunk' strains are annoying... i guess has nice strong aspects to the product, and obviously is a good selling point, and safer in 'relaxed' law enforcement of it, but holy fffuck FUCK YOU *channeling harvey keitel trademark misery whining EEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHGGGGGGGGGKKKKKKK AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
FUCK THAT SKUNK SHIT
i don't want to smell that shit fuck you

/ [end rant]

Sorry.

The government already tried prohibition with alcohol. It was a miserable failure. About 1,000 people a year died from bad booze (bathtub gin & moonshine). There were a lot of other problems, organized crime, bribes to police, etc.

Ken Burns had a documentary on that.

https://www.pbs.org/kenburns/prohibi...d-consequences

I support the decriminalization of marijuana. But we would still need to enforce DUI and other related laws if you commit a crime while under the influence.

1,000 a year from bad booze?

That's nothing...even for back then.

Try 400,000+ dying every year from LEGAL cigarettes...lol...just in the USA alone.

It's all about the money...and keeping people high, drunk, and stupid.

The number one duty of the federal government is to protect our borders.

.

until a drunk or stoned maniac sideswipes you at 65 m.ph. and your car ends up in a ditch and you end up in the hospital

then everybody will say

"why didn't the Cops (representatives of local Government) keep that maniac off the road"

.

The reason that marijuana is being made legal in all democrat strongholds is that under federal law a person cannot legally possess a firearm if he/she is a drug user.

I gotta admit, it is a clever angle.

I am against the legalization of marijuana but the cat is already out of the bag so my objection doesn’t mean much anymore.

I’ve tried today’s pot. It is ridiculously potent. I know I couldn’t drive while stoned and I’m amazed how anyone can. It is an accident waiting to happen.

Absurd. Cannabis is being legalized by mostly democratic governments because it’s proponents vote democratic.
