Shockflash

Chrome has been virtually unusable lately. I keep getting error message that Shockwave Flash is unresponsive. I did all the crap they tell you to do at Mozilla ( a very disappointing website!). Nothing worked.
I finally disabled both the shock wave options and Chrome is buzzing again.
But I can't watch any videos.

If I want to watch videos, I have to use FF or IE.
But FF cannot open PDf files and ID cannot copy and paste.

So I need to use 3 browsers to do anything.

Is there a browser out there that just do what it is supposed to do?
I will gladly pay for one that works.
I am getting my money's worth with all this free crap.

Tom, I use FF and an addon they provide called foxit reader that will open PDF without problems. On my version I clicked on tools and then in the drop down click addons. That menu will give you an option to get addons. Follow on and make it your prg. of choice to open pdf files. Works ok.

Good luck.
TD

Make sure that you are installing the proper flash plug-in for your architecture (Windows 7 32-bit, Windows 7 64-bit, Windows XP 32-bit, etc.).

I did that - disabled the wrong SF.
I later turned on the right one and everything speeded up fine, but I still get attacked by svchost.exe after a while. No svc problem wiht anything but Chorme.

TD - I used FOXIT with IE and Chrome, but it will not work with FF - nothing works with FF, not even the build in viewer. I can't make up my mind which is worse FF or Chrome.

A few other things:
- clear you browser cache often;
- only enable javascript when necessary;
- never enable java;
- close your browser often, and don't leave your computer on for extended periods (days).

Tom,

Uninstall SF, reboot your computer, make sure there is nothing left to uninstall from SF (i.e. remove programs) then reinstall the right one.

Had the same thing Tom. Had to do exactly just as this page said to get my shockwave player to work.
1st- Go to this page http://www.interoperabilitybridges.c...ion-for-chrome
2- Follow step 1 for Windows 7( I am using XP but it worked). You have to do the right click and save thing. This is the critical part as downloading the regular way will not have a program to open it.
3 Follow the rest of the steps and you should be golden.

Make sure you delete the old copy from Chrome first.

I lost all video ability for a couple of weeks all because of the right click and save thing. Very frustrating. Hope this helps.

P.S. Not trusting IE anymore since the AD block feature in Chrome is so good at keeping the cookies off my machine. And with Windows XP, feel less vulnerable.

I must be checking in the library - the size if by far the largest process I have running, and often there are 4 or 5 of them. and they last hours. I always end the processes, but that is when the video problems come in. Chrome is 100% unusable - even starting it for a minute or two forces me to totally shut down and re--start. Chrome will never see the new computer. FF is doubtful. I am going 100% IE, those who don't take it I live without.

I got a computer to SAVE time, not waste it. In the long run, I could have accomplished more over the years with a pencil and calculator.

T4H - I'll make that my last try. Thanks for the link.

I never installed the wrong one! I have no idea where it came from or where to look for another one, but I am sure I do want it on my computer period. I can live without video.
I just dug out my old B&W laptop from 20 years ago - it works GREAT for MPH. Can't say that for today's products.
